They could do no wrong in the making of this album, everything turned to gold. Curren$y and Ski have one-of-a-kind chemistry, and this was the height of that beautiful marriage. Some of that is Ski Beatz being on another planet, some is live instrumentation, partly Curren$y's laid back but dominant presence, his unappreciated lyricism (more on that soon), but some of it is just capturing that perfect artistic moment. It's beyond explanation, but hearing that album was like opening a new door in my mind.like, oh it is possible for something to sound this fresh. Pilot Talk was literally Audio Dope in the sense that the sound of that album changed the way I looked at rap music. It's on the same level as albums like MBDTF, Channel Orange, Returnof4eva.modern marvels. I realize it's not seen that way by the hip-hop community as a whole, but I know some others on this board feel the same way. The first Pilot Talk is just a monumental album. So after running through the trilogy this morning there's one key point for me regarding the series and any comparisons of the three albums.
